2 Army reservists shot dead in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines - Police are hunting down two gunmen who shot dead two Army reservists Monday night in Caloocan City.
Senior Superintendent Jude Santos, Caloocan City police chief, said Virgilio Macalinao, 49, and Jonathan Siocon, 46, both residents of Bagong Silang, succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in the body.
Santos said the two Army reserve officers were talking in front of Macalinao’s house on Phase 8-A in Bagong Silang when fired upon by the two suspects at around 7:30 p.m.
Witnesses told the police that the suspects were both wearing black jackets and their faces covered with towel and dust mask. They said that one of the gunmen stabbed the already wounded Siocon in the chest before fleeing in the cover of darkness.
Macalinao died at the Nodado Hospital while undergoing treatment. Siocon died on the way to Dr. Jose Rodriguez Hospital due to gunshot and stab wounds in the body.
“We are still gathering information to establish the suspects’ motive behind the killing of Siocon and Macalinao,” Santos told The STAR yesterday.
Santos directed his police officers in Caloocan City North to hasten the investigation of the case and arrest the suspects.
