NBI probes websites featuring 'crush videos'

Manila, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating Filipino maintainers of websites offering “crush videos,” or videos showing women crushing animals, an official said yesterday.

“We have identified the websites. We are trying to identify the people in the videos,” said Sixto Comia, who heads the NBI environmental and wildlife protection investigation division.

The NBI said many of these videos are shot locally and sold to the website maintainers, who could be charged with violating the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

The Animal Welfare Coalition, which requested the investigation, said Filipino women perform in these videos for $25 to $1,000 for foreign clients who purchase the videos through the Internet.
