BI nabs German accused of molesting minors

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines -  The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a 50-year-old German accused of 17 counts of sexually abusing minors in Konstanz, Germany after 12 years of hiding in the Philippines.

BI spokeswoman Maria Antonette Mangrobang said Gisbert Leisner was arrested last April 7 in Angeles City, Pampanga. She said Leistner arrived in the country in 1997, but his passport expired in 1999.

She said Leistner will be deported as soon as the BI Board of Commissioners issues the order for his deportation and after the German embassy provides him with his travel documents.

German federal policemen are due to arrive in Manila to fetch the fugitive and escort him back to Germany.
