- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines -  A tricycle driver was killed while a lotto outlet employee and her companion were hurt when robbers took P20,000 the employee was supposed to remit to her employer Thursday night in Quezon City.

Police said Lea Ulip, 19, and Jamaica Miranda, 14, boarded a tricycle driven by Guillermo Guibaga, 76, from a lotto outlet in Barangay Krus na Ligas and were on their way to deliver the outlet’s earnings to Ulip’s employer in Project 2.

Robbers on a motorcycle blocked the tricycle’s path at around 8 p.m. in Barangay Teacher’s Village East, and started shooting when Ulip refused to give up a bag containing the money. Guibaga was declared dead on arrival at the East Avenue Medical Center, while Ulip and Miranda were treated for injuries.
