Briton dies in Makati condo

- Mike Frialde -

MANILA, Philippines -  A 34-year-old British man was found dead in his unit at a condominium in Makati City yesterday.

Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio identified the victim as Geriant Wynne Hughes, an official of a call center company.

He said police officers were alerted after Hughes’ stay-out helpers reported for work yesterday morning.

“The housemaids last saw Hughes alive last Saturday. They got worried after Hughes had failed to answer his cell phone and open the door when they reported back for work,” said Bonifacio.

Police said a Lifeline Rescue ambulance crew, led by Dr. Kristine Pagui rigan, rushed Hughes to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Bonifacio said initial investigation indicated no foul play was involved in Hughes’ death, through crime scene investigators found what appeared to be cocaine, several anti-psychosis drugs, and vials of painkillers near the victim’s body.
