DepEd offers summer jobs for students, out-of-school youths
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Education (DepEd) is offering as many as 150 jobs to high school and college students as well as out-of-school youths (OSYs) this summer.
Joey Pelaez, executive director of the DepEd’s Center for Students and Co-Curricular Affairs, said under their Special Program for the Employment of Students, they are accepting applications until April 9 for students and OSYs aged 15 to 25 who want to earn money to go back to school this June.
Pelaez said those who are accepted as “trainees” will get a minimum wage pay of P404 a day, as well as P50 daily transportation allowance.
He said high school and college students should submit their grade cards, school registration forms, and the income tax returns (ITRs) of their parents showing that their family’s net income is not more than P143,000 per year, and an ID picture.
For OSY applicants, Pelaez said they should submit their last school record, their parents’ ITRs, and a letter indicating their future plans, which should include an intention to go back to school.
