BI deports 2 Americans for child rape, mail fraud
MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recently deported two American fugitives accused of being a child rapist and committing multiple counts of mail fraud, officials said yesterday.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said child rape suspect Destor Gatchalian, 39; and Alan Brian Carillo, 29, boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to San Francisco last Wednesday.
BI-Interpol chief Floro Balato Jr. said Gatchalian and Carillo were issued summary deportation orders by the bureau’s board of commissioners.
Balato said Gatchalian was arrested on March 18 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. He is to stand trial for three counts of child rape before a superior court in Snohomish County, Washington.
Carillo, on the other hand, was arrested in Mandaluyong City on March 10 and will be tried before a district court in Pennsylvania for 10 counts of mail fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
