MANILA, Philippines - A newborn girl was stolen by a woman who befriended the baby’s mother while the latter used a public toilet at a bus terminal in Sampaloc, Manila Wednesday night.
House helper Marjorie Angoy, 37, said she had just been released from the Ospital ng Maynila, where she gave birth, and was on her way to the province when she met the woman at the RCJ Bus terminal.
Angoy said the woman, who introduced herself as Melon Adaranas, befriended her while she was waiting for a bus. She asked Adaranas to hold her baby while she used the toilet. When she returned, the woman had left, taking her baby with her.
Police are looking into reports that a syndicate is behind the abduction and sale of babies in Metro Manila and the provinces.
