'Shoot-to-kill' sa 5 pulis 'nangupit' ng ransom

MANILA, Philippines - Iniutos na kahapon ni Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim ang ’shoot-to-kill’ sa limang pulis-Maynila na sinasabing nangupit ng halagang P12-mil­yon sa narekober na ransom money mula sa mga nadakip na kidnap for ransom group sa Ermita, Maynila noong naka­lipas na linggo.

Sa isang press con­ference na dinaluhan din ni MPD director C/Supt Roberto Ronga­villa, sinabi ng alkalde na ang isang pulis na nakagawa ng krimen ay maaari nang ituring na ordinaryong kriminal na kung manlalaban sa mga aarestong awtoridad ay maa­aring barilin.

Humarap din sa nasabing presscon ang biktima ng kidnapping na si Eric Sim Chin Tong, 42, Malaysian national at negosyante sa bansa.

“I thank Mayor Lim for helping a foreigner like me. I am sure the Malaysian Embassy appreciates this,” ayon sa biktima.

“If we are harsh on hardened criminals, the more re­ason that we should be harsh if the ones committing the crimes are policemen whom the people expect to protect them but prove to be misfits,” sagot naman ng alkalde.

Dahil armado umano ang mga nagtatagong pulis na sina Senior Inspector Peter Nerviza, SPO3 Ernesto Peralta, PO3 Jefferson Britanico, PO3 Mike Ongpauco at PO1 Rommel Ocampo, itinuturing din silang mapanganib.
