Comedian torches own condo unit

MANILA, Philippines - Comedian Ethel Booba (real name Ethyl Gabison) tried torching her condominium unit in Quezon City following a fight with her boyfriend yesterday morning.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Fortunato Alde said Gabison apparently burned her lampshade, broke some windows and wrote profanities on the wall of her eighth-floor unit at the Prince Jun Condominium along Timog Avenue. The unit’s sprinkler system kicked in at past 5 a.m. Building officials decided not to press charges against her.

Authorities said Gabison’s boyfriend, a Romanian national, visited her at her unit just before the incident. Gabison was allegedly furious when she learned her boyfriend was gay. Alde said Gabison appeared to be drunk at the time.
