Las Piñas to distribute friendship route tickets for free
MANILA, Philippines - To ease traffic congestion, the city government of Las Piñas will redistribute “Friendship Route” stickers to its residents starting March 14.
Jimmy Castellano, city public information head, said the stickers will be free of charge but is strictly for private car owners. “The last time the city gave out stickers was in 2007 and they are noticeably fading already,” Castellano told The STAR.
In a statement, Mayor Vergel Aguilar said public utility jeepneys, buses, taxis, school buses and service, delivery trucks and vans, tricycles and motorcycles “are not eligible for issuance of friendship stickers.” Aguilar warned that anyone who will engage in selling or tampering the stickers will be penalized.
The initial issuance will be on March 14 to 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Verdant Covered Court in Barangay Pamplona III near Las Piñas East National High School. The friendship route, passed in 1996, allow motorists to use 59 villages and subdivisions as alternative routes to do away with the traffic along Zapote-Alabang Road.
This include Santos Village in Zapote, the Doña Manuela and Camella Homes subdivisions in Pamplona III, Ocampo Compound, Vergonville in Pulang Lupa, PhilAmLife Village, among others.
Interested residents must bring both the original and photocopies of their car’s original receipt and certificate of registration and valid identification showing the holder’s address.
For mortgaged vehicles, owners are required to bring certification from the bank or original copy of chattel mortgage, while users of company-issued vehicles must bring a certification from the company.
For the vehicles whose registered owner’s address is outside of Las Piñas they are also required to bring with them the deed of sale.
