Woman's Facebook profile ends up in Internet sex site

- Nestor Etolle -

MANILA, Philippines -  A pretty 21-year-old office worker sought police assistance yesterday after her profile was illegally posted on the Internet’s escort provider’s site offering sex services.

The complainant said she had received numerous calls from Filipinos and foreigners who want to hire her services after finding her advertisement at the Internet’s website www.escortproviders.com.

“I was shocked by the offer of several men to hire my alleged services ranging from escort to sex for $500. My cell phone has been constantly ringing for text messages and calls from different men,” the woman told Superintendent Nelson Yabut, chief of the District Public Safety Battalion of the Manila Police District.

The woman said that when she inquired how the men were able to get her contact numbers she was told that she was advertised at the www.escortproviders.com.

She said that when she opened the site, she was surprised to see her photo and personal profile. “The profiles were lifted from my Facebook account without my permission. I want the police to find the culprit,” the woman told The STAR.

Yabut learned that in order to link with www.escortproviders.com, you have to be a paying member of the site. He, however, admitted the MPD lacks expertise and logistics to trace the source of the illegal posting on the website.

Yabut advised the woman to report the matter to the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) or the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who have the capability to deal with cybersex crimes.

He said women should be aware that social networking sites are not safe. “Avoid posting your sexy photos on your Facebook account. You may end up being pestered with unwanted calls from sex hungry males,” Yabut said.
