Man fails to cadge money, beats up wife

MANILA, Philippines –  A woman was allegedly beaten up by her estranged husband after she refused to give him money he was cadging from her yesterday in Caloocan City.

Chinese national Shi Jian Li’s wife, who requested anonymity, said she was surprised to see her husband at her rented condominium unit in Grace Park yesterday, after having been separated for five years.

Shi allegedly asked for money, which the complainant refused. The man reportedly punched her in the neck, then left her. The victim said they separated due to their frequent quarrels, many of them ending in his beating her into submission.

The man remains at large. No charges have been filed by the complainant, police said.
