Telecom firm exec 'butchered like a pig'

- Edu Punay -

MANILA, Philippines -  A 31-year-old supervisor of telecommunications giant Smart Communications Inc. was stabbed dead inside his apartment in Sta. Ana, Manila early yesterday.

The victim, Albert Clarence Bondoc, a supervisor in the credit and collection unit of Smart’s finance department, suffered stab wounds all over his body, Police Officer 1 James Lagasca of the Manila Police District homicide section said in his initial report.

Lagasca said the victim was naked and had seven stab wounds in his back, two in front, one in his head and several more in his arms when found in his apartment along Nickel street in San Andres Bukid at around 5:30 a.m. after neighbors noticed spots of blood on the door of his apartment unit.

“Kinatay na parang baboy (He was butchered like a pig),” Lagasca said in a phone interview.

He said blood scattered all over the place indicated that the victim fought for his life while being attacked, allegedly by two men.

Investigators said Bondoc’s attackers took his money and personal belongings, including an iPod, a laptop, a video camera and a digital camera.

Neighbors told police they last saw the victim at around 10 p.m. Saturday when he arrived with two men, both about 18 to 25 years old.

“They supposedly had a drinking spree. Some of the neighbors said he (Bondoc) was a gay guy,” Lagasca said.

Inspector Armando Macaraeg, who heads the homicide section, said they will retrieve text messages from the victim’s mobile phone, found behind a television set in Bondoc’s apartment, to help them track down Bondoc’s killers.
