Glass partition falls on boy at NAIA-1

- Rudy Santos -

MANILA, Philippines –  A six-year-old boy who was about to leave for Australia with his parents was rushed to the hospital Monday night when a thick glass partition at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1) pre-departure lounge gave way and fell on him.

Airport operations division (AOD) employee Virgie Catamin said Dennis John Reyes was climbing up the partition while his parents had their passports cleared at the immigration counter. The partition collapsed, unable to bear his weight.

Catamin and other AOD employees, as well as airline representative, brought the boy to the San Juan de Dios Hospital. Doctors there said Reyes’ legs showed “no blatant deformity, no limitation of movement.”

Reyes and his parents missed their flight, and they are expected to be taken in on the next Qantas flight to Australia.
