Man dies inside hotel room with woman companion

- Nestor Etolle -

MANILA, Philippines - A man was discovered dead inside one of the rented rooms of a hotel in Sta. Cruz, Manila early morning yesterday.

The fatality was identified through an identification card of Police Hotline Movement, Inc. as Ricardo Montalban, at least 50 years old, of regular build.

His body was discovered by room boys of the Carport Inn located along Rizal Avenue in Sta. Cruz past 8 a.m. slumped face down on the bed and naked.

SPO1 Gerardo Rivera said no external sign of body injury was noted on the victim. No other valuables were found in his possession, except for a cigarette case containing his ID.

Rivera said the victim checked in with a woman companion at around 4:56 a.m. and occupied a room at the third floor of the hotel. The couple was supposed to check out after three hours.

When the agreed time lapsed, hotel staff knocked on the door to inform the couple that they have to leave the room. However despite repeated knocks, no one responded, prompting the room boys to force open the door.

The fatality was found dead but his female companion was nowhere in sight. Rivera said the victim could have suffered a heart attack during their “love” encounter, and that the woman left for fear of being investigated.
