NAIA cops catch farmer with shabu in underwear
MANILA, Philippines – Police at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport arrested yesterday a farmer who was about to board a flight for Cotabato when they found around 200 grams of shabu in his underwear.
Superintendent Abner Santos said Tar Mokalam, 39, arrived at the airport at around 7:55 a.m. for his noon flight. When he was frisked, police inspectors found he had hidden something in his underwear.
Mokalam was brought to the toilet by three police officers, who found the shabu packet that Mokalam insisted a friend had asked him to bring.
During an interview, Mokalam said he received a call from “Ryan,” who asked to meet him in Alabang, Muntinlupa City because he had a favor to ask.
Mokalam said they proceeded to the men’s room at a shopping mall, where Ryan dropped a small package into his underwear and gave him P5,000.
“I needed the money. It’s Christmas and I could not give my family any money so I accepted his offer to bring the package,” he said.
Mokalam was brought to the Pasay City prosecutor’s office for the filing of charges against him.
