Fetus found in Makati

- Jose Rodel Clapano -

MANILA, Philippines –  A fetus was found in a pile of garbage in Makati City yesterday morning.

Inspector Emerson Madronio of the Makati police investigation unit said the fetus, described to be between eight to nine months old, was found by a scavenger identified as Benjamin Fernandez, 38, wrapped in a white plastic bag in a pile of garbage along Kalayaan Avenue in Barangay West Rembo, Makati.

Fernandez said he initially thought that the plastic only contained spoiled food. He opened the package and saw it was a fetus, prompting him to call the attention of barangay officials.

Police added that a female high school student’s notebook was found nearby, but did not say whether they suspect she was the mother.
