DND to conduct bid for purchase of Army ammunition
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of National Defense will conduct a bidding for the procurement of about P190 million worth of mortar and ammunition for the Army.
In a bid bulletin, the DND said it will buy 100 units of 81-mm mortar with integrated logistics support and 2,000 rounds of ammunition. The approved budget for the mortar is P170.32 million while the purchase of ammunition will cost P20 million.
The funds for the project will be sourced from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Act Trust Fund.
DND Bids and Awards Committee chairman Assistant Secretary Ernesto Boac said the Army has given assurances that the supplies to be bought are compatible with their equipment.
Bidders should have completed within three years before the submission and receipt of bids a contract similar to the project.
Interested firms have until 10 a.m. of Dec. 16 to submit their bids.
The opening of bids will be held on the same date at the DND office in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Representatives from business groups and the media are expected to observe the opening of bids.
Prospective bidders can avail of bid documents from the Bids and Awards Committee upon the payment of a non-refundable fee of P25,000.
Late bids as well as those that went beyond the approved budget for the contract will not be accepted.
The DND will conduct a post qualification process from Jan. 10 to 21 next year. The process seeks to validate the eligibility documents of the proponent and to determine if it is capable of undertaking the project.
A notice of award may be issued to the winning bidder on Jan. 27.
