Slain German hotel executive's kin offer P.3-M reward

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines - The family of a German hotel executive who was killed in Makati City nearly six months ago has offered P300,000 as a reward for any information that will lead to the identification and arrest of his killers.

Police Officer 2 Emelson Madronio, case investigator, told The STAR that the family started contacting the police again last month and has been seeking a speedy resolution to Sergio Mazza’s killing.

“We already have a sketch of the suspects but we need to know their whereabouts. The money could really help encourage witnesses to come out,” Madronio said, adding the offer is a “positive development” in the investigation.

Mazza, 38, was an assistant executive food and beverage manager of Shangri-La Hotel in Makati. He was shot by a gunman with a .22 caliber pistol at the corner of De la Rosa and Perea Streets in Makati City as he was walking to work on the morning of June 17.

Madronio said there were several persons who witnessed the killing but they refused to come out.

He said police are still eyeing the “love affair” angle as the strongest motive because Mazza’s belongings, including the P20,000 in his wallet and BlackBerry mobile phone, were untouched after he was shot.

Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio earlier told The STAR that based on the accounts they gathered, Mazza seemed to have multiple relationships with women within a short span of time.
