Lacson asks CA to stop arrest warrant

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Panfilo Lacson, through his lawyer, asked the Court of Appeals (CA) yesterday to stop the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 18 from enforcing an arrest warrant against him for the killing of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver, Emmanuel Corbito.

Lacson told the CA the basis for his prosecution is the “fabricated” affidavit of former police Senior Superintendent Cesar Mancao II.

Lacson said Mancao admitted in his Nov. 11 testimony in court that he learned of the alleged crime “after the fact.”

“Mancao has finally admitted that he did not really know anything about the alleged plan to commit the crime,” he said. “His testimony, therefore, that he overheard the alleged plan being discussed prior to its commission, is nothing but pure fabrication.”

Lacson said it only confirms that Mancao’s testimony was “patently unreliable” and is “not even based on Mancao’s personal knowledge.”

Mancao’s admission was consistent with the testimony of former police Superintendent Glenn Dumlao that Mancao knew nothing about the alleged plan against Dacer, Lacson said.
