MANILA, Philippines - Manila Water Co. Inc. announced yesterday it is repairing water pipelines along EDSA.
In coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the Department of Public Works and Highways, Manila Water said it is rehabilitating the pipelines laid more than 40 years ago and are now susceptible to breakage and leaks.
“The EDSA pipelines are very important segments of the central distribution network of Manila Water. They convey water from our treatment plants in Balara to the residential and commercial establishments in the cities of Makati and Taguig,” Manila Water corporate communications head Jeric Sevilla said.
Major pipe breakages along EDSA usually cause flooding and snarl traffic.
Manila Water will work on the pipelines from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily, and put steel plates on top of excavations to make the lane passable to vehicles.
