Chavit tags Chinese drug suspect in son's woes
MANILA, Philippines – Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson said yesterday that a Chinese national arrested in a recent drug bust at a five-star hotel in Pasig City is allegedly responsible for his son’s arrest on drug charges in Hong Kong.
Singson congratulated the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for arresting Benjamin Liobing, also known as Benjamin Bockoc Yu, and his alleged cohort, Arthur Olarte.
He believes that the drugs “planted” and found in the luggage of his son, Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson, could have come from Liobing.
“Liobing and Olarte should stay in prison forever, for they have destroyed a lot of people and more will be destroyed (by them), like my son – who is a victim – if they do not stay behind bars,” Singson said.
Ronald was arrested last July at the Chep Lap Kok Airport for allegedly carrying prohibited drugs. He is out on bail but has not been allowed to leave the former Crown colony. His next hearing is on Nov. 24.
