Ivler's ma to file human rights case vs government

MANILA, Philippines – Murder suspect Jason Ivler’s mother will file a case of human rights violations against the government before the United Nations.

Speaking to reporters, Marlene Aguilar-Pollard said National Bureau of Investigation agents, doctors at Quirino Memorial Medical Center, and government prosecutors violated her son’s human rights.

“Let the UN decide,” she said.

Aguilar-Pollard said NBI agents dragged Ivler from her house on the day he was arrested. She has been protesting her son’s detention at the Quezon City Jail despite his medical condition.

Ivler is standing trial for allegedly killing Renato Victor Ebarle Jr. during a traffic altercation on the night of Nov. 18, 2009 in Quezon City.

He was eventually traced though the plate number of the Honda CRV he was driving. It was a diplomatic plate assigned to his stepfather, Briton Stephen Pollard.

After a few months in hiding, NBI agents arrested Ivler at the house of his mother in Blue Ridge Subdivision last January.

He was wounded during the ensuing shootout and underwent operation at QMMC, where he was confined until the court ordered his transfer to the Quezon City Jail.

While at the hospital, Ivler had a colostomy that allows him to defecate only through a bag attached to his body.
