Drug case vs Lim son dismissed

- Sandy Araneta -

MANILA, Philippines – A Manila court dismissed yesterday the drug case against a son of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Judge Cicero Jurado of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 11 said neither the prosecution nor the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency have made attempts to revive the case within the allowable period against Manuel Lim, who was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila two years ago.

Under the rules for offenses punishable by imprisonment of more than six years, the provisional dismissal must become permanent after two years, he added.

The case against Lim, Ronald Pascual and Joel Sabado was provisionally dismissed on Oct. 23, 2008, following the failure of the prosecution to present any witnesses during the trial.

The poseur-buyer and other PDEA agents did not show up during the trial.
