MANILA, Philippines - As part of his commitment to further improve infrastructure and delivery of basic services in Las Piñas, Rep. Mark Villar is closely working with Maynilad to fasttrack the implementation of a proposed water project in the city.
Rep. Mark Villar recently met with Maynilad officials, led by technical and program management head Ireneo Gonzales, to follow up on the start of Maynilad’s primary pipe-laying project along the Alabang-Zapote Road.
The pipe-laying project along Las Piñas City’s main road is considered a major breakthrough as this will facilitate the most-awaited delivery of Maynilad’s water supply to Las Piñas communities.
Maynilad reported that the project, which will involve the laying of pipes with the diameter of 1.4 meters along the eight-kilometer Alabang-Zapote Road, should have started last month and end in February 2011.
“Maynilad has also tapped the services of three well-established contractors in the field to minimize project delays and flaws to ensure that it is completed on the prescribed date,” Villar said.
He and Mayor Vergel Aguilar are also working closely on a traffic management plan in anticipation of the traffic problems that may arise with the project’s commencement.
“We would also like to call on the cooperation and patience of the people especially with the onset of the Christmas season,” Villar said.
