DLSU blast probers focus on persons, not frats

- Nestor Etolle -

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers investigating the Sept. 26 post-Bar exam blast outside the De La Salle University are concentrating their probe on individual liability rather than on the involvement of fraternities.

“We don’t want to give any fraternal colors,” Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo, spokesman of the Manila Police District (MPD) said in a radio interview.

He said police are looking into the involvement of at least three people in the blast. However, Margarejo refused to name names, at least until charges are filed against the suspects.

He said the MPD investigators are conducting regular case conferences on the matter. The National Bureau of Investigation and the Supreme Court are conducting independent investigations into the incident.

“It is better to have a concerted effort where many agencies are helping solve the incident,” he said.

He said anyone who may have information about the Sept. 26 explosion, which left 47 persons injured, may call the MPD hotline at 524-5288. “We are treating all possibilities as credible. We are looking intently into each of them,” Margarejo said.
