Luistro visits Caloocan teacher's wake, teacher's killer

MANILA, Philippines - Department of Education Secretary Armin Luistro visited yesterday the high school student who stabbed dead his teacher and then proceeded to the slain teacher’s wake.

He visited the 15-year-old Manuel Luis Quezon High School student, who is in the custody of the Caloocan City social welfare office, to ensure that he would not be put in the same room as adult offenders.

Luistro, according to radio reports, condoled with the family of Teodora Soner, who was killed Friday after she reportedly threatened to expose his link to a fraternity and have him expelled if he did not get a proper haircut.

He said that it is hard for the families of the suspect and the victim to understand why the incident took place, and what is important is for the teacher’s family to be given time to grieve.
