Cop, 2 others shot dead in Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman and two others were shot dead in Parañaque City on Wednesday over their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

Authorities said Police Officer 3 Armando Pascua of Southern Police District Security and Support Unit was killed on the spot, while Arnel Sangcopan and Maryjane Hernandez were rushed to different hospitals but died while undergoing treatment.

Initial probe results show that Pascua and an unidentified policeman went to Hernandez’s house in Bagong Lipunan street near Baclaran at about 6 p.m. Minutes after that, Sangcopan and an unidentified companion also arrived.

Several gunshots were heard after that, said Hernandez’s mother, who was then doing the laundry. When she peeked inside their house, she saw the bloodied bodies of the victims.

Police are looking into the illegal drugs angle after allegedly recovering a piece of aluminum foil used for shabu sessions. Authorities are also looking for Pascua and Sangcopan’s companions, who fled after the incident.
