Man uses 'shower video' to get date with teen

MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested in Quezon City yesterday for reportedly coercing a 16-year-old girl to go on a date with him by threatening to spread a video he took of her taking a shower.

Police identified the suspect as Jojo Salvador, 35, a resident of Barangay Krus na Ligas.

According to a report submitted by Police Officer 2 Mylen Taringting, a man later identified as Salvador reportedly called the girl at around 3 a.m. on Sunday and uttered “malicious words.”

The victim said the caller threatened to spread the video and kidnap her if she did not meet with him.

Taringting said the caller’s identity was revealed when the victim agreed to meet with him at a nearby park, “secretly aided by her father.” Police said the father tried to accost the suspect, who ran away.

Salvador was later apprehended by barangay officials, who turned him over to the police.

Police are encouraging women who may have been victimized by Salvador to file charges. Law enforcers believe Salvador may have been using the same modus operandi to coerce women into giving in to his sexual advances.
