Korean jailed for shoplifting

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines – A 50-year-old Korean woman was thrown in jail for allegedly shoplifting almost P3,000 worth of appliances at a mall in Pasay City Saturday afternoon.

Based on a complaint by mall employee Ghenson Gorospe, suspect Wang Wen Soy allegedly shoplifted a sauce pot, a deep fry pan, and two high-end food keepers amounting to P2,819.25.

The STAR tried to get Wang’s side but she refused to comment except to say that she “was very angry with the police” because they ignored her when she asked them for help.

Police Officer 1 Tina Villanueva said Wang allegedly committed the crime “as an act of revenge against” the police.

“She told us that somebody robbed her (at the same mall) last June but when she approached the policemen they ignored her. This prompted her to exact revenge by shoplifting,” Villanueva told The STAR.

Wang is facing theft charges before the city prosecutor’s office, Villanueva said.
