Baclaran rerouting starts today

MANILA, Philippines – An “experimental” road rerouting scheme for motorists going through the Baclaran area in Paranaque City will be implemented starting today.

In enforcing Traffic Circular 01-2010, the city government said all drivers of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) starting from the northbound portion of Quirino Avenue and whose endpoint, turnaround point, or junction is at Baclaran should turn left on Redemptorist Road.

PUJ drivers are likewise advised to take another left at Airport Road before making a right turn at the southbound lane of Quirino Avenue towards Tambo.

Private motorists from the north going to the Redemptorist Church should make u-turn at the intersection of Roxas Blvd. and Airport Road. They can make a right turn at Redemptorist Road and from that junction, make a left or right turn at the Roxas Boulevard Service Road.

The city government stressed that the circular has yet to be ratified and the enforcement will be on “experimental basis, subject to further review, modification and ratification by the Parañaque City Council.”
