NBI agent shoots self in leg
MANILA, Philippines - Instead of enjoying a movie, an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) found himself in the hospital for self-inflicted gunshot wounds after a .45 caliber pistol tucked in his waistband went off as he was about to enter the cinema at a mall in Quezon City Wednesday night.
Edwin Justo, 33, is recovering from his injuries at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center.
Police Officer 3 Jigson Maddatu said the incident happened at around 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, witnessed by security guard Domingo Barrameda, 30.
Records showed Justo was at the main door of the cinema to watch a movie when, for still unknown reasons, the gun tucked in his waistband went off, hitting him in the left thigh and left knee.
After a momentary lull, Justo realized he was wounded and immediately sought the help of Barrameda, who took him to the nearest hospital.
