MANILA, Philippines - A suspected robber was killed while his alleged accomplice was arrested after they reportedly held up a coffee shop in Las Piñas City yesterday morning.
Dennis Sigua was declared dead on arrival at the Perpetual Help Hospital due to several gunshot wounds after engaging police in a shootout, Senior Police Officer 1 Roland Abraham and PO3 Angelo Dimaapi said in their report.
The other suspect, Raymart Daguman, has been detained at the city’s central police station.
Police said assistant store manager Alexander Angeles II and security guard Gharry Oquindo were preparing to open the Starbucks coffee shop along Alabang-Zapote Road in Pamplona 3 when the suspects struck at 7:50 a.m.
The robbers disarmed Oquindo of his .38 caliber pistol and dragged him into the store where Angeles was preparing their operational petty cash worth P50,000. After taking the money, the suspects hogtied Angeles and Oquindo before fleeing.
A police team led by Chief Inspector Romeo Nino and Inspector Rommel Macatlang were on patrol at that time and chanced upon the suspects rushing out of the shop.
