Hijackers cart off P1.5-million goods in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines - Five men, two of them wearing military uniforms, hijacked a van carrying P1.5 million worth of supermarket products in Quezon City Friday, police said yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rodrigo Barrameda said the Fuso Canter closed van (RKE-940), owned by JPJ Juanzo Trucking, contained Mead Johnson products and was manned by a driver and two helpers.
The workers said they were supposed to deliver the products from San Joaquin, Pasig City to Laoag City. They said the hijackers in military uniforms flagged them down along EDSA in Barangay Apolonio Samson at around 1 a.m. Friday.
The men in military uniforms were on a motorcycle while the rest used a black van.
Barrameda said at gunpoint, the three workers were forced out of the truck and into a black van, where they were blindfolded and bound with packaging tape. The workers were dropped off in Valenzuela, where they reported the hijacking to police.
