Janitor hangs self in school

- Nestor Etolle -

MANILA, Philippines – The body of a 24-year-old janitor was found hanging inside a room in an exclusive Christian school in Sampaloc, Manila yesterday afternoon.

Manolito Gedorio Jr. was reportedly torn between the loves of two women, one of whom is reportedly pregnant, which reached the knowledge of nun administrators of the Dominican Elementary School, according to initial investigation conducted by PO3 Gerry Amores.

The Dominican Elementary School, located at the corner of Piy Margal street and A.H. Lacson Avenue in Sampaloc, is run by a congregation of sisters which espouses morality and human values among its students and employees.

“It seems the sisters got wind of the janitor’s immoral behavior and was threatened to be expelled from his job unless he chooses only one woman to love,” Amores said, citing his initial talk with the school personnel.

Since the admonition from the sisters, the victim reportedly started to show signs of regret and remorse, such as being alone by himself most of the time.

At around 1:20 p.m. yesterday, a school maintenance personnel discovered Gedorio’s body hanging by a nylon cord inside the sports equipment room at the fourth floor of the Dominican school. The victim was already dead when found.

Police had to surreptitiously conduct the investigation at the school building in order not to arouse the attention of, and create panic among the young students.

Moreover, a 21-year-old Mindanao native also hanged himself inside a house at the Islamic Center in Quiapo, Manila yesterday morning.

SPO3 Paul Dennis Javier said the suicide, known only as “Jamel,” was reportedly suffering from an undisclosed ailment. Jamel’s body was discovered by his relative hanging by the window.
