5 dead in Saudi car accident

MANILA, Philippines - Four members of a Filipino family and their driver were killed in a vehicular accident in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.

Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Antonio Villamor confirmed that Robert Demetrio; his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Joyce Hassan; grandson, Hope; and their driver, Gener de Java, were killed in the accident in Al-Hassan. The Demetrios are from Kidapawan, North Cotabato.

The DFA said the Philippine embassy in Riyadh is coordinating with the Filipinos’ employers on their survivors’ benefits and other arrangements.
