MANILA, Philippines - Two of six men who allegedly stole parts from a 10-wheeler truck and selling them to a junkshop were arrested in Valenzuela City Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Ranier Idio, city police chief, identified the suspects as Jose Mendoza, 46, and Roberto Liwan, 42, both residents of Barangay Karuhatan.
The four other suspects – identified only through their aliases as Don-Don, Randy, Allan and Mitoy, also of Barangay Karuhatan – eluded arrest and are now being sought by the police.
Oliver Castro, 46, operations manager of Five-S Solution Inc., a heavy equipment firm in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City, told police that he discovered last Saturday that thieves had cannibalized one of the company’s 10-wheeler Hino trucks.
He said among the missing parts are the truck’s engine, hydraulics system, control panel, electrical system, under-chassis assembly and its 10 steel mags and tires.
Police said witnesses saw at least six men taking parts from the truck on several occasions. They identified the suspects and accompanied the police to the group’s hiding place in Barangay Karuhatan Sunday morning.
