Pasay vendor dies waiting for Noynoy's inauguration

MANILA, Philippines - A vendor in Pasay City could no longer witness the much-awaited inauguration of his idol, president-elect Benigno Aquino III after the die-hard fan passed away yesteday morning probably due to empty stomach.

Police are eyeing hunger and overfatigue as the cause of Victor Fernando Arcas’ death, but investigators PO2 Rodel Torres and PO3 Simon Respicio, Jr. clarified that nothing is final yet as the body is still subject for autopsy. Investigators, nonetheless, said that Arcas’ body bore no torture marks.

Arcas is a vendor along EDSA LRT Station in Pasay, reportedly collapsed on top of his booth about 7 a.m. yesterday. The Pasay rescue team declared him dead after examining his body.

Before Arcas’ death, he would always tell other vendors in the area about his excitement to see Aquino, whom he described as his idol, finally assumes the presidency on June 30.
