1 hurt in Pasay fire

MANILA, Philippines - A woman was hurt in a fire that razed five houses in Pasay City yesterday morning.

Authorities identified the victim as Mariden Renadeniera, whose left foot was wounded when she stepped on a broken glass.

City arson investigator Cesar Domingo said the blaze originated at the house of a certain Estrallita Ong on Espiritu street in Gamban at about 7:08 a.m. and immediately spread to four other houses.

According to Domingo, a member of Ong’s household left a pot of water boiling on the stove, and when the house member came back, “the fire was already big.” The blaze destroyed P600,000 worth of property before it was put out at around 9:28 a.m
