Ayala Avenue closed to traffic on June 10 and 11

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Avenue will be closed to traffic on June 10 and 11 for the celebration of Makati City’s 340th foundation anniversary. Heavy traffic is also expected in other parts of the central business district.

Makati City’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) director Hermenegildo San Miguel advised motorists to look for alternative routes and avoid the main activity area. He assured commuters and motorists though that additional enforcers will be deployed to assist the public.

According to the DPS, Ayala Avenue will be closed from 12 p.m. of June 10 due to the construction of the grand parade stage.

The affected streets include both lanes of Ayala Avenue, from Makati Avenue up to Herrera Street; both lanes of Paseo de Roxas, from Sedeño St. to Dela Rosa St.; and Rufino St., from Valero to Dela Rosa St.

 Meanwhile, Malugay St., Pasong Tamo to Ayala Avenue, and Ayala Avenue to Gil Puyat or Metropolitan Avenue will also be closed from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 11.

Passenger buses coming from the South Luzon Expressway and Pasay City are advised to take Gil Puyat Avenue and turn left at EDSA.

On the other hand, buses coming from EDSA, are advised to turn right at Gil Puyat Avenue.

Public utility vehicles and light vehicles coming from J.P. Rizal are advised to turn right to Makati Avenue, right to Paseo de Roxas, right to Villar St., left to E.P. Leviste St., left to V.A. Rufino St. and right to Ayala Avenue.

“Those coming from Washington St. may turn right to Gil Puyat Avenue, right to Ayala Avenue, right to Salcedo St., left to Benavidez toward Esperanza St., right to Makati Avenue, right to Arnaiz Avenue, right to Paseo de Roxas, left to Dela Rosa St., right to Salcedo St. and left to Ayala Avenue,” San Miguel said.
