Pasay policemen may undergo drug test
MANILA, Philippines - More than 400 Pasay City policemen may undergo drug examination following the series of raids conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the city last week.
Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta told The STAR that he has been informed by National Capital Region chief Director Roberto Rosales about the drug test, however, they have yet to set the schedule.
Petrasanta said he was informed about the examination after last week’s arrest of Police Officer 1 Rodelio Rania of the Pasay Police Community Precinct 6 and his reported informant, Noel Bartolome, for allegedly selling P7.5 million worth of cocaine.
A day after Rania’s arrest, PDEA agents arrested several drug suspects in Tramo, Pasay for allegedly possessing a kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu. “The regional director [Rosales] told me about it but as to when it’s going to be implemented, I don’t know,” he said.
Petrasanta, the head of the Pasay City police, said that he won’t be spared from the examination. But he would rather that the examination be conducted unannounced. “So that we will know who are the real drug users,” he said.
The NCRPO, which would conduct the exam, is expected to spend at least P120,000 for the procedure, said Petrasanta
