Metro temperature hits 37.5º Celsius
MANILA, Philippines - Temperature in Metro Manila hit 37.5 degrees Celsius yesterday, the warmest day recorded in the metropolis since January, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The sizzling temperature was recorded at 4 p.m. yesterday at the agency’s facility in Quezon City.
Pagasa senior weather forecaster Robert Sawi said Filipinos will continue to experience warm temperatures in the next several days. However, he said, the ridge of high pressure area – the system that brings warm weather in the country is expected to recede next week.
He said temperature in Metro Manila is unlikely to reach 38 degrees Celsius. “I think this will be the hottest temperature recorded for Metro Manila this summer,” Sawi said in a phone interview.
Meanwhile, Sawi said temperatures in Baguio City and Tuguegarao, Cagayan yesterday were recorded at 25.0 degrees Celsius and 37.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. He said the intertropical convergence zone is expected to bring some rains over some parts of the country, particularly in Mindanao, next week. Sawi said the onset of the rainy season is expected during the first half of June.
