2 OFWs killed in Saudi road mishap
MANILA, Philippines - Two Filipinos were reportedly killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Monday, a Middle East-based group of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) reported yesterday.
Migrante International, quoting information from its member organization Kapatiran sa Gitnang Silangan (KGS), said the victims’ car crashed into a 10-wheeler truck.
KGS chairperson Eric Jocson said the two Filipinos, who were on their way to the city of Mecca for a pilgrimage, died on the spot.
The 10-wheeler truck, which was also reportedly driven by a Filipino, was on its way to Riyadh when the accident happened.
Jocson said he personally knew one of the two OFWs, who were traveling with a Pakistani and a Saudi Arabian at the time.
“They were all working for Forever Living. The accident is very tragic, and we feel for their families in the Philippines who have yet to be informed,” he said. “I was told that a Filipino was driving the truck and no one in the car survived due to the strength of the impact.”
