Bomb scare at LRT station
MANILA, Philippines - Police cleared the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Gil Puyat station and nearby areas yesterday morning after a bag was found at the center island of the intersection between Taft and Gil Puyat Avenues in Pasay City.
Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, Pasay police chief, said that around 7:45 a.m., an LRT passenger called up the police station and reported that a bag was found along the center island.
The city police’s bomb experts secured the area, but “there was no explosive found inside the bag,” only pieces of paper, Petrasanta said.
The bomb experts still detonated the bag to make sure there were no explosives hidden inside.
Police suspect that the ones responsible for causing alarm among train passengers and nearby residents are pranksters.
“They are just trying to sow fear, especially that election is just a few days away. These people are no good and just busy themselves with things that disturb peace and order,” Petrasanta said.
