- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman, an elderly woman and a child were hurt in a shooting that occurred near a mosque in Quezon City Sunday night.

According to investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Neil Garnace, Alvar Ladjammalic reportedly shot Police Officer 2 Jul-Asriy Baladji, 38, of the Mandaluyong police after he suspected him of informing anti-illegal drug agents about the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area around the Salaam Mosque in Barangay Culiat.

Stray bullets hit Loraiza Odin and four-year-old Sherwina Fojid.

Baladji was taken to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center, where he remains confined, while Fojid and Odin have been discharged from the East Avenue Medical Center after treatment.

Investigation showed Baladji’s wife, Satra, was inside their house when she heard several gunshots.

A few minutes later, Baladji’s son, Jul-amir, by his other wife, told her that Ladjammalic shot his father. Satra went out of the house and saw her husband being carried by his brothers Kamala, Teng and Amboy, all surnamed Baladji.

Ladjammalic fled, bringing with him the weapon used in the shooting, according to investigators.
