MANILA, Philippines - Manila vice mayoralty candidate Ma. Lourdes “Bonjay” Isip-Garcia yesterday accused Vice Mayor Isko Moreno in spreading black propaganda and a demolition job against her, as she said that voters would eventually know the truth.
“Black propaganda and demolition job being staged by power-clinging politicians will not work anymore in Manila, and would end up being junked by voters come election day,” said Isip-Garcia in a statement issued. Isip-Garcia said she was reacting to a series of black propaganda launched against her by her opponent Moreno. She is currently the councilor of Manila’s 6th district.
She was one of the Manila city councilors who led the opposition to the stay of the oil depot of the “Big 3” oil companies — Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Caltex Philippines Inc. (formerly Chevron Philippines Inc), and Petron Corp. — in Pandacan, Manila.
Isip-Garcia said Moreno has refused to level the playing field by addressing issues concerning Manila and instead went personal on the attacks. She said she has been the subject of mounting blast text messaging that attacked her personally — her being a woman. Aside from the text messages being circulated among residents and voters in Manila, Isip-Garcia said her political opponents even came up with stickers attacking and mocking her.
