Drunken bragging leads to slay suspect's arrest
MANILA, Philippines - A man who bragged during a drinking spree that he reportedly participated in a 2008 ambush of a relative of a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief was arrested at a restaurant in Malabon City shortly before midnight yesterday.
Superintendent Bernard Tambaoan said Lando Santuile, also known as Elverio Santuile and Elvis, 45, was reportedly narrating his involvement in the Jan. 20, 2008 attack on Joselito Jumahan and Mariano Razon Pangan, a relative of ex-PNP chief and Manila mayoralty bet Avelino Razon Jr.
Jumahan, an overseas worker, was kiled in the ambush while Pangan was critically wounded in the attack.
Informants told police about Santuile’s claims, and police investigators found out he has a standing warrant of arrest for a murder case in Malabon City.
“We are still verifying reports that he was involved in other crimes,” Tambaoan said.
