MANILA, Philippines - Manila mayoralty bet Avelino Razon’s supporters are organizing town-hall gatherings all over the city to draw crowds and attract voters.
In a statement, retired police colonel Ernesto “Dionix” Dionisio, a former councilor in the city’s second district and current head of the political organization of the Razon Para Mayor (RPM) movement, said each caucus, held at least twice a day, has been drawing at least 300 people.
He said during each caucus, Razon explains in detail his platform of governance, “followed by an open forum wherein the audience are given the opportunity to freely exchange views with the candidate.” It is Razon’s first time to run for an elective office.
Dionisio said this format ensures that the audience does not only get to hear the candidate, but are able to give direct feedback and express their views.
He said the last part of Razon’s caucuses is a voter’s education workshop in order for voters to understand automated elections.
