Former transport group leader killed in ambush
MANILA, Philippines – A jeepney operator and former transport group official was ambushed by four still unidentified attackers at a jeepney terminal yesterday in Quezon City.
Chief Inspector Benjamin Elenzano, Quezon City Police District homicide investigation chief, said Reynaldo Nazario, 52, former Pasang Masda president and resident of NIA Village, Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, was hit by 10 bullets in the body.
Elenzano said they are looking into feuds among association members as a motive for the killing. Prior to the shooting, the victim had been allegedly receiving death threats.
Reports said the incident happened at the NIA/NPC Mindanao Jeepney terminal on North Avenueat around 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
Nazario was reportedly waiting for his wife, Charito, at a nearby mall when the gunmen arrived and shot at him.
The gunmen commandeered a tricycle driven by Lordric Palisoc to escape, then got off at the corner of Road 13 and Alley 13 in Barangay Pag-asa. – Jerry Botial
